Member Benefits with the Georgia GCSA
Education The Georgia GCSA provides a broad slate of high quality, affordable and sometimes even free professional education across the state every year. This education is geared to keeping you up to date with what you need to maximize your success. Your association also provides education and networking opportunities for key members of your staff including equipment managers and spray technicians.
Research In collaboration with the Georgia Golf Environmental Foundation, the Georgia GCSA coordinates closely with researchers to promote science relevant to golf course maintenance in our state. Moreover, your association helps generate funding for this research through events like the annual Spring Classic and Rounds4Research.
Government Relations Your association contracts with a government relations counsel to provide expert guidance on legislative and regulatory issues related to golf and golf course maintenance. This relationship gives us a critical pipeline to information on issues as they emerge, rather than after the fact. It also allows us to provide solid information and research findings to help form the basis of sound decisions based on fact not misconceptions.
Full-time Support The Georgia GCSA employs a full-time executive director and assistant whose primary missions are simply to help you in the best way they possibly can. That can mean everything from knocking on doors in the State House in Atlanta to simply hearing about your day. Your association recognizes that its people are its most valuable commodity.
Hall of Fame Established in 2011, the Georgia GCSA Hall of Fame provides a stage for ultimate recognition of career achievement and contribution to the golf course maintenance profession in the state.
Through The Green The Georgia GCSA produces a high-quality, bi-monthly magazine that informs and showcases the work and professionalism of its members. This publication succeeds thanks to the caliber of the membership and the loyal support of industry partners who advertise in its pages.
Annual Meeting This crowning moment of every year brings together hundreds of members for education, camaraderie and competition with our annual golf championship. The multi-day event also celebrates the best-of-our-best with awards presentations in a host of categories.
Regular Meetings Your association stages a series of meetings across the region each year that, in addition to formal education, give members the chance to network with people who can influence their future success. Quality time spent over lunch or golf can establish relationships that expand both professional and personal horizons.
Golf Industry Show Reception Your association offers this night each year during GCSAA’s annual Golf Industry Show to bring the Georgia GCSA family together away from home. Whether it’s San Diego or Orlando or any point in between, your association gives you the chance to catch up.
Website The Georgia GCSA maintains a strong presence on the internet through www.ggcsa.com. Here you can find the latest in association news, information on upcoming events and so much more.
Employment Referral Service Housed at www.ggcsa.com is our portal for connecting people in the job market with facilities seeking employees. Whether you are a superintendent or an industry partner, you may find your next job here or your next employee.
Media Services Your association contracts with a media specialist to provide timely information to the news media as needed. Press releases to industry and general news outlets help keep grow the understanding and appreciation of the role of the golf course superintendent.
Legacy Scholarships The Georgia GCSA is also committed to the success of the next generation through an annual scholarship program. Scholarships assist children and grandchildren of members in their pursuit of academic excellence. The Legacy Scholarships provide financial support for further education.
Moncrief Scholarships Through annual donations to the Georgia State Golf Foundation, the Georgia GCSA also invests in the next generation of golf course superintendents. Monies from the Georgia GCSA help fund the James B. “Monty” Moncrief Scholarships for the most promising turfgrass students at four-year institutions in the state.
Community Outreach The Georgia GCSA provides frequent opportunities for members to give back to their communities through volunteer projects and charitable works. These efforts make a difference in the lives of people less fortunate than ourselves and at the same time strengthen the bonds and sense of community among our members who take part. Habitat-for-Humanity, Camp Will-A-Way and Goshen Valley Boys Ranch are just some of the charities we have worked with over the years.
