Spray Technician

Atlanta Country Club
Marietta, GA
Course Operation:
18-hole Private Country Club located in East Cobb, minutes north of Atlanta. A-1 bentgrass greens, bermuda fairways and rough, bermuda and zoysia tees. 
Duties: Atlanta Country Club is looking for someone interested in a high pace position at a high end club. Someone that strives to be the best in the business and can handle the necessary hours/duties that comes with being the best. We are looking for a person that can do the job at a high level without having to be managed at a high level. Someone that actively works to improve without outside motivation. One that performs daily spraying and fertilization tasks for the golf course and grounds. Learn the skills associated with calibration of sprayers and spreaders.  Scout for disease and insect issues and perform necessary disease and soil sampling for diagnostic purposes. Responsible for reading, understanding and keeping current with labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Performs all other related tasks as deemed necessary by management.  This is a stepping stone into upper management.
Salary: $16-20/hr. + overtime.

Requirements: Prefer 2-4 year degree in Turf Management or related field, however will consider an individual who is self-motivated with willingness to learn and dedicated with 2+ years’ experience with golf course maintenance work.  Previous spray tech experience is a plus. Ability to read and understand chemical labels as well as the ability follow and adhere to all label and facility safety measures.  Have the ability to drive golf course maintenance equipment, including tractors, and the ability to lift, move, carry objects up to 75lbs. Licenses or Certifications: Employee must obtain a GA pesticide application license within 6 months of hire; exam fee will be reimbursed once certification test(s) has been passed.

Spray Technician II

Duties: Jekyll Island is dedicated to maintaining the delicate balance between nature and humankind through conservation, education, and preservation. Surrounded by salt marshes, expansive oceanfront, and ancient maritime forests, it is situated within the chain of the Golden Isles, and just a few miles from St. Simons Island, Sea Island and Brunswick. As a State Park, Jekyll Island is a coastal haven where nature and humans peacefully co-exist. Job Summary:Under general supervision, the Spray Technician II is responsible for detecting and diagnosing damaged turf, plants, shrubs, trees, etc.; determines and applies treatment as necessary. Calibrates equipment to ensure proper application of treatments, monitors the results of treatment, and assists with the general maintenance and upkeep of the Island landscape. In addition to spray responsibilities, the Spray Technician II will also perform upkeep and maintenance of golf courses, including mowing, pruning, and clearing debris as necessary. Description:*Detects damage to turf, plants, shrubs, and trees, diagnoses cause of damage and determines a treatment plan to rectify problems. *Mixes chemicals for proper applications and applies required treatments to damaged greenery. *Monitors results of treatments and adjusts dosages applied as needed. Removes dead plants and debris; rakes areas clean for replanting; removes trash. *Applies pesticides with careful regard to the safety of humans, wildlife and environment; adheres to legal requirements and recommendations of manufacturers regarding the application of chemicals*Calibrates equipment to ensure the proper application of chemicals regarding quantity and effectiveness.*Maintains accurate records of chemical usage and locations of usage *Adjusts treatment applications during inclement weather conditions *Responsible for general upkeep and maintenance of the Island by performing various landscaping duties including mowing, pruning, clearing debris, etc.*Completes daily reports and updates on plant and route problems.*Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary: $13 - $15 per hour (DOQ).

Second Assistant

Course Operation:
27 holes, private, mountain community located 1 hour north of Atlanta. Bentgrass greens and bermudagrass tees, fairways and rough. 
Duties: The 2nd Assistant will be involved with all aspects of the golf maintenance department's daily operation. In addition to course set-up and mowing tasks, you will be involved with crew scheduling and supervision, assisting the irrigation technician with system repair and maintenance, pesticide and fertilizer applications, and all other duties as deemed necessary by the first assistant and superintendent. You will be required to cover weekend supervision every third weekend, and will run the department whenever the first assistant and superintendent are absent.
Salary: $33,000 - $37,000 based on prior experience.

Cherokee Town and Country Club is an Atlanta private club established in 1956. It consists of two separate facilities; a Buckhead Town Club with dining, tennis, swimming, and fitness, and the Country Club, 12 miles north in Sandy Springs with 36 holes of golf, dining, swimming, and fitness. The North & South Courses feature Champion bermudagrass greens, and TifGrand surrounds, with 419 fairways, tees, and rough.

Duties: Duties will include anything and everything that goes into maintaining a world class facility including jumping on a shovel, fixing what's in the hole and then returning the hole to playing condition, record keeping, chemical/fertilizer applications, lead safety meetings, interaction with membership, crew training, active participation in the Georgia GCSA, work on weekends and holidays.

Duties: REYNOLDS LAKE OCONEE 2nd ASSISTANT GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT. REPORTS TO: Golf Course Superintendent and 1st Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. PURPOSE OF POSITION: To assist the Superintendent and 1st Assistant Superintendent in all areas of responsibilities with regard to the maintenance of the golf course and supervision of personnel. CLASSIFICATION: Salaried - Non-Exempt. DEPARTMENT: Golf Course Maintenance. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Directs and oversees daily activities, in conjunction with the Superintendent, and 1st Assistant Golf Course Superintendents • Manages staff in absence of Superintendent and 1st Assistant Golf Course Superintendents • Ensure work guidelines are followed • Ensures a safe and clean work environment for all employees by enforcing OSHA and EPA regulations in conjunction with the Safety Committee • Monitors staff performance with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, document necessary observations and help the Assistant Superintendent handle staff issues that arise in the Superintendent's absence • Supervises and participates in morning set-up of the golf course, monitor irrigation system and pump station • Scouts the golf course on a regular basis for insect, weed, and disease problems. Diagnose any observations and take corrective action after discussion with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent• Competent with irrigation management for cool and warm season turf varieties • Attends seminars and workshops for continued professional growth and development• Should be familiar with the basic operation of computers • Coordinates, schedules, and monitors special projects on the golf course• Communicates with the staff about improvements in procedure, equipment, etc. • Makes recommendations for improvements to procedure, equipment, etc. • Assists in maintaining all necessary documentation of applications• Other duties as assigned. SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:• Actively demonstrates, encourages, trains and models safety rules and guidelines in accordance with company, OSHA, EPA and other state and federal law requirements.• Demonstrates and documents safety training and orientation for all employees. This will include the use of PPE (personal protective equipment) and safe equipment operation. • Investigates loss producing incidents and reviews prevention recommendations with all employees. • Actively participates in the safety program by attending meetings, providing and documenting safety training and offering improvement suggestions. • Applies the “5S System” to the continued maintenance of a clean and safe work environment for all employees and guests.• Takes personal responsibility for safety every day.. SCHEDULE • Golf Course Maintenance operates 7 days per week. Salary: $32,000 - $36,000 based on experience.
