Assistant Superintendent I

TPC Sugarloaf

Course Operation: TPC Sugarloaf offers 27 holes of private golf designed by Greg Norman located within the gated community of Sugarloaf Country Club in Duluth, Georgia. It is host to the Mitsubishi Electric Classic as part of the PGA Tour Champions Schedule. A three year renovation concluded in the Fall of 2019 in which all greens were converted to 'Tif-Eagle' Bermudagrass, fairways to Zeon Zoysiagrass and a new HDPE Irrigation system installed throughout the golf course.
Duties: Train, motivate, and supervise staff capable of performing the tasks associated with maintaining the golf course. Assist Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations with recommendations concerning personnel matters such as pay rates, performance reviews, corrective actions and terminations. Schedule and supervise the daily operations of the maintenance crew. Must have thorough knowledge and understanding of all tasks relevant to the Application Foreman, Irrigation Foreman, Landscape Foreman, Equipment Operator I, II, III & IV positions, Landscape Gardener I, II, III and IV positions, Irrigation Technicians I, II, III & IV positions, and the application technician position. Plan, schedule, and monitor daily operations, including responsibility for coordinating and assigning work, schedules leaves, and ensures adequate staffing for meeting departmental goals. Establish, promote and enforce safety practices in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. Train employees in safety procedures and internal procedures. Ensure cleanliness of the golf course equipment, maintenance facility, and grounds. Maintain purchase order system and related invoice logs, which includes coding invoices with appropriate account numbers. Assist with the preparation, development, and management of the operating budget. Monitor and control departmental budget expenses. Perform all functions within the limits of the budget. Assist the Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations with record keeping for supplies, daily logs, application records, climatic condition records and personnel records which include verifying departmental staff time cards. Assist in the development and implementation of the necessary cultural maintenance programs necessary to keep the golf course and landscape grounds in good condition, including the proper application of pesticides and fertilizers. Operate within all local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines. Communicate over a 2-way radio system with other key department heads and staff members. Required to wear personal protective clothing and/or use protective equipment to comply with established safety operating standards. Special projects or other duties as assigned.

Duties: The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for the supervision as directed of the golf course maintenance operation and staff under the leadership of the Golf Course Superintendent to ensure the healthy growth of the golf course & Clubhouse Grounds grasses, trees, wetlands, and other plant materials. Assistant Superintendent

The Landings Club - Palmetto Course
Savannah - Skidaway Island, GA

Course Operation: Palmetto Course Architect: Arthur Hills Established: 1985 Private / 6,941 Yards / Par 72, Greens: TifEagle, Fairways: Celebration, Tees: Zoysia, Rough: Bermuda. Arthur Hills designed the Palmetto course and it is considered by many to be our most challenging course. Palmetto opened in October of 1985 and was the fourth course on Skidaway Island. In 2005, the course was spruced up with new concrete cart paths, irrigation system and drainage, bunkers, a bulkhead around the 5th green, and an additional set of tees. The first six holes on Palmetto issue the challenge. If you are able to answer, the next nine are a little reprieve, but look out for the 16th, 17th and 18th. The 10th hole has one of the most beautiful oak trees on the island, just to the right of the green. The 13th hole has the gravesite of Mr. Philip Delegal, an early settler of Skidaway Island. The Plantation Clubhouse overlooks the peninsula green of the 18th, surrounded on three sides by a lagoon.
Duties: Greets members and guests with a smile and takes care of their needs. Assists in supervising repairs and maintenance of all mechanic and motorized equipment. Instructs Equipment Operators in the safe, efficient operation and care of equipment. Assists in supervising and maintenance of pumps, irrigation and drainage systems. Supervises the daily preparation of the golf course, i.e. hole location, tee markers, rakes, hazard and out of bounds markers. Performs sprayer and fertilizer spreaders calibration. Assists in spraying pesticides, applying fertilizers on greens, tees and fairways. Inspects turf, shrubs, and other outdoor Club areas to assess pesticide and fertilizer needs and applies as needed to maintain excellent condition of grounds and golf course. Responds proactively to any needs that arise from members, employees, or guests. Maintains inventory of products, chemical storage areas and mixing area in compliance with state regulations. Performs preventative maintenance on all equipment, as appropriate. Represents the club with the utmost of professionalism. Maintains accurate records on all equipment. Trains on and enforces all safety policies and procedures. Follows safety guidelines described in the operating procedures and generally practices behavior that ensures the safety of the employee, co-workers, members, and guests. Complies with departmental grooming standards. Works variety of shifts, as needed to include nights, weekends and/or holidays. Complies with departmental and Club policies and procedures. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Salary: $45,000+.

Course Operation: The Standard Club is one of Atlanta’s oldest social clubs, but has been at its current location since the 1980’s. The current golf course was designed by Mike Riley and has a great mix of golden age and modern architectural features. Playing surfaces consist of A1/A4 bent grass greens, bermudagrass tees, fairways, and roughs, as well as numerous acres of native grass. Duties and Responsibilities: The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will work closely with the Senior Assistant and Golf Course Superintendent to devise and implement strategies to maintain the golf course in an efficient and sustainable way. He/she should have a driven mindset and be able to work with enough freedom. This will be an open and engaging work environment meant to derive new ideas and a “think outside the box mentality” which develops into a superior learning culture. Primary responsibilities will include supervising staff, scheduling, applications involving plant protectants and fertilizers, calibration of application equipment, leading staff meetings, project management, helping track expenditures, payroll, course setup, irrigation setup and maintenance, and hand watering functions as needed. This candidate will learn and thrive in maintaining championship level bentgrass greens and bermudagrass playing surfaces with a unique approach. Course Operation: International City Golf Club is a 18-hole municipal golf course owned and operated by the City of Warner Robins. Tifdwarf Bermuda greens and Tifway-419 fairways and rough. Along with the golf course we are responsible for 14 city parks which range in use from baseball and football facilities, to passive walking parks and playgrounds.
Duties: This position is responsible for assisting in planning, assigning, supervising and evaluating the work of the grounds maintenance crew and equipment operators engaged in performing a wide variety of work associated with grounds maintenance. Train employees on proper equipment use and following safety procedures. Operate a variety of equipment; tractors, riding mowers, push mowers, aerators, trucks and hand held tools. Course Operation: Sanctuary Golf Club is a Love Golf Design/Fred Couples Signature course, which sits on the Golden Isles of Georgia and represents one of the top semi-private golf facilities in the state. Sanctuary Golf Club is the first project for Love Golf Design that does not bear the name Davis Love III as the signature designer, but it is a partnership that blends the classic design elements from traditional golf course architecture with the techniques of modern day design. The result at Sanctuary Golf Club is a par-72, 7,003-yard layout that is different from the typical residential golf experience and one that is truly unique to the area. By working with the natural features of the land, Couples has created a course that is challenging without being penal, and one that golfers will not tire of playing. Sanctuary Golf club consists of Tifdwarf bermudagrass greens, Tifway 419 bermudagrass fairways and a mixture of Meyer Zoysiagrass and Tifway bermudagrass tees. In 2020 we are in the process of adding capillary concrete to all 43 bunkers and well as renovating tee boxes.
Duties: Sanctuary Golf Club is seeking hardworking, self-motivated individual that is eager to advance their career in the golf course industry. The 1st Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Superintendent to facilitate and execute all operations necessary to maintain golf course and grounds. The 1st Assistant Superintendent will assist in daily course setup, water management of playing surfaces, monitoring and applying fertility and chemical applications, in-house and contracted projects, and all other agronomic practices necessary to maintain great maintained conditions.
Salary: 40-45k DOE.
