Assistant Superintendent

Woodmont Golf & Country Club
Canton, GA

Course Operation: Owned by Triumph Golf, Woodmont is the only Robert Trent Jones Jr. design in Georgia. Woodmont is a semi-private facility with Dominant Plus bentgrass greens and 419 bermuda fairways, tees and rough.
Duties: The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent in all aspects of golf course maintenance such as spraying, irrigation troubleshooting and repairs, cultural practices, etc. The AGCS will also be responsible for management and training of 6-8 person maintenance staff and quality control of all tasks performed. He/she will be responsible for record keeping and scheduling of chemical applications with guidance from the GCS. He/she will be trained and involved in building the yearly budget as well as providing the best conditions possible within that budget every month. The AGCS will be responsible for filling in wherever needed and will need to be flexible in a very fast paced golf environment. Woodmont is committed to guiding and developing the Assistant in all aspects so that they can advance in their career to a GCS position in the near future.
Salary: Competitive, based on experience.
Benefits: Dental, Vision, and Health Insurance (Over $400/month contributed by the company to go towards health care premiums) after 90 days, PTO, and full golf privileges. The Assistant will be fully involved in all agronomic decision-making including chemical programs and cultural practices so it will be great for learning and experience.
Requirements: Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Turfgrass Science, Agronomy, or related field. Prior bentgrass experience required. Must have Georgia Pesticide license or ability to obtain one in 90 days. Must be willing to do whatever is needed to get the job done. Must be a good leader.

Assistant Superintendent

Harbor Club on Lake Oconee
Greensboro, GA

Course Operation: Semi-Private 18 hole championship course designed by Tom Weiskopf & Jay Morrish. The putting surfaces are blend of A1/A4 Bentgrass. The remainder of the course is comprised predominantly of 419 Bermudagrass with select Zoysiagrass tees.
Duties: The Assistant Superintendent will be expected to help lead a staff of ten crew members in conjunction with the Superintendent to maximize daily golf course conditions. Daily tasks will vary widely from day to day. A strong work ethic, excellent communication, eye for detail and follow through will suit the candidate well.
Salary: $35,000 - $45,000 depending on qualifications.
Benefits: Comprehensive health insurance, cell phone reimbursement, GCSAA/GGCSA dues, event attendance, uniforms, golfing privileges and discounted meals. Bonus potential based on performance.
Requirements: Previous experience as an Assistant Superintendent in the Transition Zone managing Bentgrass greens is preferred but not required. Two or Four year Turf Degree also preferred but not required. Acquisition of Pesticide License will be expected within six months of employment if not already licensed. Candidate should, at a minimum, have three years golf course experience with strong references. Experience with irrigation repair, pesticide applications and managing Bentgrass a must. Assistant Superintendent

The Frog Golf Club
Villa Rica, GA

Course Operation: Designed by legendary golf course architect Tom Fazio, The Frog is recognized among the top courses in Georgia. Located off I-20 in Villa Rica, The Frog is a masterpiece complete with bentgrass greens, expansive bunkering, and has also attained status as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.
Duties: Works with the Superintendent to ensure that the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed. Supervises and assists maintenance staff in daily duties. Assists in the planning, organizing and direction of the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers. Supervises the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees and ornamental plants. Ensures that construction equipment is properly maintained. Assists in the procurement of supplies and materials and ensures costs remain within budgetary limitations. Keeps records of annual maintenance activities and costs and assists with the preparation of required reports. Follows sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors, when possible. Reconciles and provides timely coding of all invoices, payroll and other required documents. Coordinates snow removal (depending upon facility location). Ensures all company policies and procedures are followed including compliance with government regulations. Ensures associates obtain proper license needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations. Addresses directly all real or perceived environmental concerns. Manages department members that may include, but is not limited to: Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician. Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs. Monitors business volume forecast and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses. Regular and reliable attendance. Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.

Course Operation: Cobblestone Park Golf Club is a semi-private 27 hole course located in Blythewood, SC. Built in 1994 and designed by P.B. Dye. 18 holes are TifEagle and the other 9 are TifDwarf bermuda greens. Tees, fairways, and roughs are 419. Toro Osmac irrigation. 16 acre Driving range and 3 hole short game facility. Home course of the USC Gamecock golf teams.
Duties: Overseeing daily operations, Assist in managing and training staff, Supervise and implement Chemical and Fertilizer applications, Irrigation repair and installation, Assist in personnel management (including safety training, staff development, and evaluation), Planning and record keeping, Course set up, Instruct equipment operators on proper safety and operation of all golf course equipment.
Salary: $42,000- $47,000.

Course Operation: Glen Arven Country Club is one of the oldest clubs in America. Founded in Southwest Georgia in 1892, Glen Arven one of the premier clubs in the region. Most recently, the course was renovated in 2014 by Bob Cupp. The renovation included new grass varieties, bunkers, greens, tees, and fairway grading. Numerous projects are upcoming as the Club's leadership works to continually improve. Course Details: 18-hole private facility with practice range, chipping and short game practice area. MiniVerde Ultradwarf Bermuda Grass Greens, TifGrand Collars, Celebration Bermuda tees, fairways, and rough. Toro Irrigation with Toro Lynx Central Control System and Satellite Controllers. Property size: 190 acres (110 acres of turf).
